The Merge House
A114 | Project Summary
Designed for a newly blended family in Golden, Colorado, this ranch-style home underwent a full transformation led by NAGY Design. The project included architectural design and concept development, a complete interior renovation and space reconfiguration, and an exterior style transformation that refreshed the home’s curb appeal.
To expand functionality, the design team added a new attached garage and reimagined the existing garage as a bonus wing for kids and guests. A modern barn and shop with a hillside view provides extra flexibility for family living, while thoughtful structural and engineering coordination ensured every detail supported both beauty and longevity.
This renovation balances shared gathering spaces with private retreats, offering a true fusion of form, function, and feeling—showcasing the power of thoughtful Colorado residential design-build services.

RENOVATIONCommon Questions
-
Yes—this project converted the existing garage into two bedrooms and a flex space for the kids, complete with proper insulation, egress, and finishes that match the rest of the home.
-
Thoughtful spatial planning, comfort-driven finishes, and clear zones for different types of activity allow a home to become a supportive, adaptable environment for new beginnings.
-
It’s essential to account for emotional comfort as much as physical space—this means balancing privacy, shared zones, and accommodating a range of needs with flexibility and care in the layout.
-
Swapping out dated siding, changing window proportions, upgrading lighting and hardware, and introducing a new front entry form can redefine a home’s character and feel cohesive with interior renovations.
